Hey, I'm Forster. I'm a Canadian living part time in Tokyo with my wife, and I've been a wedding photographer in Canada since 2018.
I shoot couples the same way I shoot my weddings. I call it "loose editorial": editorial effortlessness mixed with candid photojournalism. My goal is to keep you two focused on having fun in the moment, so you look back and remember being there, not being photographed.
November 2026 portfolio sessions
I'm building my Tokyo portfolio this November and opening ten sessions at a reduced rate. In exchange, a review. I'm choosing couples whose dates and style fit, so this is an application, not a booking.

Questions
Why is this priced so low?
Although I've spent longer periods of time in Tokyo, I haven't really shot too many couples here. I'll be moving to Japan fully at the end of 2027 and plan to start building an engagement or couples photography studio, so I want to kick start my portfolio beforehand.
How much experience do you have?
I've been a wedding photographer running my studio Wedding Editorials in Canada since 2019. I've photographed over 100 couples and continue to hold 5 stars on Google Reviews.
What photography style do you shoot?
Loose Editorial: the intersection of editorial fashion photography and candid photojournalism. This isn't "cinematic Tokyo vibes" generic branding. It's a specific visual language with design references and a consistent body of work, which you can view on my wedding website and Instagram. I've shot weddings as my primary business since 2019, so my knowledge of posing, lighting, and storytelling is at a fundamentally different level than someone who picked up a camera to do tourist photo walks.
What languages do you speak?
Native English, beginner Japanese (currently taking classes and learning from my Japanese wife!), and conversational Cantonese.
I don't know how to pose. Will this be awkward?
Most people I shoot tell me this! But no worries, I direct for a living! The way I shoot requires getting natural, editorial-quality poses from people on the most high-pressure day of their lives. Often exhausted, overstimulated, and on a tight timeline. The Loose Editorial aesthetic is specifically built around capturing the moments between posed setups: the laugh after a direction, the exhale between frames, the natural interaction. I don't ask couples to hold a pose. Instead I give you cues and catch what happens.
I don't know Tokyo. Where should we shoot?
I split time between Toronto and Japan, and although I'm just starting to build out my couples portfolio here, I know the city beyond the typical tourist circuit. I can recommend and guide you to locations that match the aesthetic you envisioned, and not just the three spots every other photographer uses.
What if it rains or the location is packed with tourists?
As a wedding photographer, I'm built to work around unpredictable conditions. Weddings don't reschedule for weather. I know how to use rain creatively, find covered alternatives, and time locations to avoid peak tourist hours. I'm also open to rescheduling if the timeline works with your travels!
What's included, and what isn't?
Online gallery with high-res downloads and personal print rights. Entry fees are at cost, usually free or a few hundred yen. Edited images only, no RAW files. No refunds outside of weather.
